Puppy Gang Fresh Foods started with Kalinda the 8 year old miniature schnauzer who was double her weight, had a variety of illnesses and needed $5,000 knee surgery. After 9 months of trying all kinds of premium brands of kibble, we found that the dog food industry is unregulated, and these processed foods contain harmful ingredients.

Questions to ask your dog food provider...

Where is my meat sourced from?

Ask your dog food provide if their meat is locally sourced, farming practices and ensure they don't contain hormones or antibiotics
Are the proteins considered high quality cuts of meat ?

Some " human grade" brands such as Kabo use mechanically separated meat (MSM) which are poor quality pieces of meat left over on the bone after the high quality cuts have been taken away.

We have been seeing many new customers come to us complaining about the low quality of other 'human grade' brands and this is often the reason alongside too many fillers (such as white potatoes, grains, pasta).
Do the meals contain high levels of grain or carbohydrates such as white potatoes?

Dogs don't need carbs in their diet, and whilst they aren't inherently BAD for dogs when you see grains or starchy carbs high on an ingredient list (such as the second or third ingredient) on your pups food this is considered a filler ingredient to lower the cost of manufacturing for the company. These do not contain nutritional benefits for your dogs.
Do the meals contain a long list of synthetic vitamins at the end?

Not only are synthetic forms of vitamins more difficult to digest that natural sources, this is a sign that your pups meals are not truly nutrient dense.
Why are brands allowed to say 'human grade' if they arent quality proteins and other ingredients?

The regulations on pet food are very loose, and 'human grade' does not necessarily mean food that we would opt to eat ourselves. That's why its important to ask the cuts of meat, where they are sourced from, and the process used to prepare the food.
